New fracture in the shoulder
Neither hand up to pianistic challenge
Rebuilding needed
But gained perspective
From further back
Vistas opened
Previously hidden
Hints of energy to look there
To explore
To sort the ridiculous
from the reasonable
The painful
from the the pleasurable
To find the plausible.

Hi Bill, I’m so very sorry to hear about the new fracture, and that your hands can’t be in beloved relationship with your piano keys. It’s so important for us to find what Rilke called the creative counterweight. Your piece of writing is such a beautiful example of this! It’s amazing isn’t it, the way life keeps dishing up challenges. We can feel like victims, or we can make something with it all. Thanks for making something and sharing. Looking forward to seeing what comes next.
